Topic: Evidence-Based Interventions: Part I
Time: October 19, 2020 12:30 PM – 4:00 PM Central Time (US and Canada)
What’s the difference between “research-based” and “evidence-based?” How can you be sure the intervention you’re considering has a strong evidence basis and that it will work in your school or district? What should you be looking for when you read research? This session, the first of a two-part course, will help you: define evidence-based interventions, distinguish between the four tiers of evidence as defined by ESSA and explain why those differences are important, and use the “Rigor, Relevance, Reward” framework to consider good-fit interventions for your school/district. Note: CEUs and SEMIs are available for the training at no cost. In order to receive credit for CEUs and SEMIs, you must register for and attend the sessions for Part I and Part II.
Topic: Evidence-Based Interventions: Part II
Time: October 23, 2020 9:00 AM – 12:30 PM Central Time (US and Canada)
Where do you find evidence for interventions? How should you interpret evidence that is provided by companies and vendors? Once you’ve found a few interventions with good evidence-bases, how do you choose between them? In Part Two of the “Evidence-Based Interventions for ESSA” series, you will: explore multiple websites designed to disseminate research to educators, use the “Intervention Rating Toolkit” to choose between evidence-based interventions, and apply what you’ve learned to evaluate and select quality, cost-effective interventions for your district. Note: CEUs and SEMIs are available for the training at no cost. In order to receive credit for CEUs and SEMIs, you must register for and attend the sessions for Part I and Part II.
