 Tennessee Foundational Skills Curriculum Supplement

In the early years of schooling, one of the most important roles of a teacher is helping young children “crack the code” and become independent readers who love to read. The Tennessee Department of Education created an open educational resource to support the development of reading foundational skills in early learners. The TN Foundational Skills Curriculum Supplement is a resource that follows evidenced-based research and was carefully crafted in order to build a solid foundation for Pre-K through grade two early literacy. This supplemental resource uses a systematic and explicit approach to instruction so that all students can gain the foundational skills necessary to become proficient readers.
