  • Action Guide: Characteristics of High-Performing Schools This research brief summarizes key characteristics as districts reframe their strategies and priorities for the upcoming year. Areas include collaboration and communication, focused professional development, and family and community involvement.
  • Strategic Priorities Diagnostic (for members only) – Hanover members can use the results of this diagnostic to revise and recommend student-driven data measurements and to ensure coherence and commitment throughout the district. Special thanks to Howard-Suamico School District (WI) for sharing this valuable tool.
  • District Reopening Checklist (for members only)This tool was designed in collaboration with the Washington Association of School Administrators (WASA) to help district leaders prepare for the 2020-2021 academic year. This checklist offers guidance on items related to school board relations, communications, curriculum and instruction, grading, stakeholder support, and facilities planning.

  • Best Practices in Online Math and Reading Instruction To support teachers and staff in the event of ongoing school closures and virtual instruction, Hanover presents researched and anecdotal best practices for delivering online math and reading instruction to students in Grades K-12.
  • Research Brief: Matching Interventions to Student Learning Stages – This report provides a brief overview of the Instructional Hierarchy followed by sections detailing each stage’s goal, observations that indicate a student’s stage, and key interventions to enable stage progression. The report also includes a summary table for quick and actionable instructional support.

TEACHER EFFICACY STRATEGIES

  • Hanover’s Educator Learning Center is a new online professional learning platform created for teachers by teachers to equip districts with virtual, sustained, and interactive development. Our current course material includes five priority areas – remote instruction, social-emotional learning, culturally-responsive teaching, instruction design, and multi-tiered systems of support.   • Professional Development Needs Assessment (for members only) This instrument is designed to assess professional learning needs among all district and school staff. The results can give administrators a better understanding of where to focus growth efforts for educators in the upcoming school year.
