Due to COVID-19 pandemic, the Mississippi Department of Education is opening an additional MOCA review during the summer 2020. This MOCA review will be conducted on an abbreviated timeline in order to make the courses available for the 2020-2021 school year.
For courses to be approved for use as online classes, local school districts must apply to the Mississippi Department of Education (MDE) for approval to ensure the vendor/provider’s content, curriculum, and assessments are aligned to Mississippi’s course standards and the vendor/provider’s teachers are certified Mississippi teachers. The Summer 2020 Special Mississippi Online Course Approval Guidelines and Application can be accessed from MDE’s Mississippi Online Course Approval (MOCA) website.
The deadline for distance or online courses to be approved for the 2020-2021 school year is June 30, 2020.
