The Mississippi State Board of Education appointed two seasoned educators to key leadership positions in the Mississippi Department of Education Office of Academic Education.
Robin Lemonis was named State Special Education Director. Lemonis has 26 years of experience in the field of education, and mostly recently served as Bureau Director of Student Intervention Services at MDE. She has served as a classroom teacher (preschool, elementary, and middle); itinerant special education teacher; district intervention specialist (elementary and secondary); teacher trainer, presenter, and lecturer; dyslexia coordinator at MDE; Hinds Community College adjunct reading teacher; and dyslexia consultant.
Dr. Aimee Chandler Brown was named Director of Career and Technical Education. Brown has 21 years of experience in the field of Career and Technical Education (CTE). She has served as a CTE director/career academy coordinator, adjunct instructor and online adjunct instructor at community colleges, business and office technology instructor, educational technology trainer at the Research and Curriculum Unit, business and computer technology instructor, and graduate teaching assistant for business technology at Mississippi State University. Brown currently serves as the CTE Director for the Madison County School District, where she has lead the expansion of CTE programs and strengthened connections to high schools in the district.
