More than 100 teacher leaders from across the state converged on the capital for ECET2 (Elevating and Celebrating Excellent Teachers and Teaching).
In the spirit of this year’s theme: Unite. Empower. Lead, the conference goal was to establish a network of highly effective teacher leaders while also providing professional learning and celebrating education as a profession.
Dr. Carey Wright updated teachers on improvements in education that can be attributed to their dedication and hard work. Teachers were also able to dialogue with lawmakers. This is the second year the members of the Mississippi Chapter of National State Teachers of the Year have facilitated the celebration supported by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
