Red Cross free disaster preparedness programs

American Red Cross offers free programs for Mississippi families:

Pillowcase Project

The American Red Cross is pleased to announce two campaigns that prepare your staff, students, parents and guardians for disasters and emergencies.

The Pillowcase Project, sponsored by Disney, is a preparedness educations program that teaches students about resilience and raise awareness of disaster risk. Red Cross volunteers lead students through a 60-minute presentation customized to focus on a hazard that is important and relevant to the local community. During the presentation students can decorate their pillowcase and learn what to put inside of their emergency preparedness kit. Call your local Red Cross office to schedule a Pillowcase Project presentation.

Free Smoke Alarms

The Sound the Alarm. Save a Life. Campaign which entails installation of free smoke alarms, new batteries and educating families on home fire safety is being offered in communities. The campaign is geared towards reducing injuries and fatalities caused by home fires. In only 30 minutes or less, families will be better protected from home fires.
