Celebrate excellence in math education: Apply for MCTM awards, scholarships, and grants

The Mississippi Council of Teachers of Mathematics (MCTM) is excited to offer various opportunities for its members to gain recognition and support through the Patricia Hensley Memorial Scholarship, classroom grants, and Teacher of the Year awards.

Patricia Hensley Memorial Scholarship – In memory of Mrs. Patricia Hensley, a dedicated math educator at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College for over 20 years, MCTM invites applications for this scholarship. With up to $250 available, this award supports pre-service or early-career teachers (with less than three years of experience) in purchasing calculators or calculator-related materials. Recipients are recognized at the MCTM Annual Conference and are encouraged to present the following year. Deadline: Sept. 30, 2024.

Classroom Grants Looking to enhance your math classroom with a new project or program? MCTM is offering grants of up to $500 to support creative and innovative classroom initiatives. Any member who teaches mathematics in a public or private school, college, or community college is eligible. Recipients are recognized at the MCTM Annual Conference, where they will also present their funded project the following year. Deadline: Sept. 30, 2024.

Teacher of the Year Awards Nominate an outstanding math educator for the MCTM Teacher of the Year Award in one of four categories: Elementary, Middle/Junior High, High School, or College. This award celebrates dedicated teachers who have demonstrated excellence in mathematics education with a minimum of three years of experience. Recipients are honored at the MCTM Annual Conference. Deadline: September 15, 2024.
