Districts encouraged to register for regional MDE accreditation training

The Mississippi Department of Education (MDE) will offer regional accreditation training to school districts in three-hour sessions Oct. 30 in Meridian, Nov. 6 in Oxford and Nov. 8 in Hattiesburg. Districts can choose which date to attend.

The in-person sessions will provide an overview of district accreditation policies, audit procedures, and current trends in federal oversight. In addition to addressing audits specific to graduation requirements, test security, instructional practices, and school safety, MDE leadership will provide monitoring tools and unpack common misconceptions regarding specific accreditation standards.

Districts are encouraged to join in teams of five, including but not limited to the superintendent, high school principal, high school counselor, and other district personnel responsible for district accountability/accreditation. Free trainings will be offered at the following dates, times, and locations:

  • Monday, Oct. 30 from 9 a.m. to noon or 1-4 p.m. at Mississippi State University in Meridian
  • Monday, Nov. 6 from 9 a.m. to noon or 1-4 p.m.  at the Oxford Conference Center in Oxford
