Julie Ross, a national trainer, will offer an overview of S.P.I.R.E.®, an Orton-Gillingham structured literacy-based reading intervention program designed for struggling readers, students with dyslexia, and non-readers. SPIRE builds reading success through direct, explicit, and systematic instruction in phonological awareness, phonics, spelling, fluency, comprehension, and vocabulary.

Julie Ross is a certified Special Education teacher in the areas of Learning Disabilities, Behavioral Disorders, and Educable Mental Handicaps. Julie has over 25 years of teaching experience with students at all education levels, K-12; in both private and public-school settings.
S.P.I.R.E. was written by Orton-Gillingham Fellow, Sheila Clark-Edmonds, M.S. Ed. and incorporates the Orton- Gillingham approach as well as the latest reading research on how struggling readers learn. This multisensory program was created specifically to teach at-risk children and children with dyslexia how to read.
