Brett Robinson named new State CTE Director

The Mississippi Department of Education (MDE) announces the appointment of Brett Robinson as State Career and Technical Education (CTE) Director. Robinson will begin the position June 1.

Robinson has been principal of Clinton High School (CHS) for the past six years and previously served as CTE Director of the Clinton Public School District. His career in education, spanning nearly 20 years has included serving as a teacher, coach, CTE director and principal.

He is a graduate of Clinton High School and earned his bachelor’s degree at Mississippi State University in biology and general sciences. He earned a master’s degree and specialist’s degree in Education Leadership from Mississippi College.

Along with his experience as a leader in his local school district, Robinson has served on numerous state committees. He has served on MDE committees and taskforces for College and Career Readiness, Innovative Schools, CTE Directors’ Advisory Panel, and the Principals’ Advisory Panel.  He currently serves as a member of the Mississippi Commission on School Accreditation.

Robinson has been recognized as Teacher of the Year, Administrator of the Year, and the State Principal of the Year for the Mississippi Association of Secondary School Principals. He is married to Kelly, and they have three children.
