Teachers invited to participate in Danny Dollar Academy

The Mississippi Council on Economic Education is excited to once again invite teachers of middle and high school students with intellectual or developmental disabilities to participate in Danny Dollar Academy (DDA).

Through this engaging program, students can learn important financial literacy skills to help them to become independent citizens post high school.  Teaching through literature, the book Danny Dollar Millionaire Extraordinaire: The Lemonade Escapade will help students improve their reading skills while learning about personal finance and entrepreneurship.

This workshop is being offered online, on-demand and at no cost.  Teachers are given access to a free Canvas course with tips and tools on how to teach DDA to their students as well as to lesson plans for the short, eight-lesson program.  In addition, teachers will receive 0.5 CEUs at no cost, all lesson plans and activities, and a copy of Danny Dollar Millionaire Extraordinaire: The Lemonade Escapade.

Students will receive a backpack, their own copy of Danny Dollar Millionaire Extraordinaire: The Lemonade Escapade and a fidget toy.  Materials will be provided via mail. Students who successfully complete the programs will be given a $25 gift card.

Through the generous support of the Mississippi Council on Developmental Disabilities, Danny Dollar Academy is offered at no cost to teachers or students.
