New guidelines for Manningham Trust Student Poetry Contest available

Attention teachers of grades 6-12: please inform your students about the new guidelines for the Manningham Trust Student Poetry Contest.

The guidelines are very different now. You may be aware that, in the past, students who placed or received an honorable mention in the Mississippi Poetry Society Student Contest were encouraged to enter the Manningham Contest. Starting with the 2023 contest, ANY student in the respective grade category may enter one poem through Submittable for consideration.

Each state may still hold a student contest (Mississippi’s is in progress now), but the states’ student contest coordinators will not be responsible for sending poems to NFSPS. Each state will be notified of any winning students from their state. Then state poetry societies may decide how to recognize those students’ accomplishments. All contest rules are detailed on the National Federation of State Poetry Societies website:  https://nfsps.com/manningham.html.

Please assist all interested students in accessing a copy of the guidelines and encourage them to enter this contest. Winning poems will be published, and monetary prizes are generous. There is no entry fee.

The entry period for the 2023 contest is Sept. 15 – Nov. 15.
