Math book studies continue this fall from Sept. 12 – Nov. 11

The Mississippi Department of Education is continuing to offer book study opportunities on National Council of Teachers of Mathematics’ Principles to Action text released in 2014 and the Catalyzing Change Trilogy: Early Childhood and Elementary (2020), Middle (2020), and High School (2018). The fall 2022 session is from Sept. 12 to Nov. 11.

These texts build on the principles and practices articulated in Principles and Standards for School Mathematics (NCTM, 2000) to offer six updated Guiding Principles for School Mathematics and specific teaching practices essential for high-quality mathematics education for all students.

These works address practical recommendations to help create positive change, invoke critical conversations among instructional leaders and stakeholders in mathematics education, and strengthen their school mathematics program. Participants are required to obtain a copy of the text.
