Professional learning opportunity for administrators, counselors set for Feb. 8, Feb. 10, Feb. 16

The Mississippi Department of Education’s Office of PreK-12 Professional School Counseling Office will begin National School Counseling Week with a three-day series from 8:30 – 10:30 a.m. Feb. 8, Feb. 10 and Feb. 16 titled Increase Student Success with Strong Administrator-Counselor Relationships for school leaders and school counselors.

The topics to be covered during the series are as follows:

  • Session 1 – Boots on the Ground and Team Capacity and Leadership
  • Session 2 – In the Trenches
  • Session 3 – Mental Health in Schools: Evaluating the Administrator’s Role

These sessions will focus on strengthening the relationship between school counselors and administrators as well as building team capacities and leadership skills between them to improve student success. The sessions will be a systemic change in students’ success if both the counselor and the administrator attend this training together.
