AFAMS Arts Integrated Workshops
Universal Design for Learning Workshops
Universal Design for Learning and Arts Integrated (UDL/AI) strategies and methods have been shown to enable learning in all students and to also improve retention of knowledge. UDL is an important component to the Mississippi College and Career Readiness Standards (MS CCRS) and is supported by the Mississippi Whole Schools of the Mississippi Arts Commission.
One of the arts integrated projects we’re offering during this workshop:
Matin Luther King collage arts integrated lesson- Students will complete sections of a MLK collage while using the UDL guideline of “Multiple Means of Action and Expression.” When the pieces of the collage are assembled, an artistically unique collage is revealed. The students will discuss what MLK’s legacy means to them and to society. This art integrated project provides a window into the impact of the Civil Rights Movement as well as provide students the opportunity to contribute their interpretation of artistic qualities to each individual piece of the collage.
All the Arts Integrated lessons may be used in your teaching practice.
