The 2026 MOHHC Teacher Fellowship is a year-long commitment. Teacher Fellows will be introduced to the Medal of Honor and Space Medal of Honor, the six character values associated with the Medal, Courage, Sacrifice, Integrity, Citizenship, Commitment, and Patriotism and the stories of recipients serving in various conflicts throughout our nation’s history who received the Medal for acts of valor. Teacher Fellows will create instructional materials and lessons for which they will be compensated that reinforce content and standards covered in the classroom and are aimed at making the Heritage Center even more accessible to teachers and students of all grade levels.
Teacher Fellows will be compensated $3,000 for their time and product completion during this Fellowship program. *See the Teacher Fellowship Commitment Form for additional information.
We appreciate your interest in our Fellowship Program, and we look forward to reviewing your submission. The application submittal window will close Dec. 15, and applicants will be notified of their status by Dec. 19.
(Open to Tennessee, Georgia, Alabama, and Mississippi teachers only.)
*Applicants who are selected will be expected to attend six in-person workshops/events/outings through 2026 in addition to a few online meets to prepare for excursions. Teacher Fellow responsibilities include:
- Completing book study assignments for three books
- Attending and participating in six working/engagement sessions. Note some sessions are more than one day: Feb. 6-7, April 9-11, June 1-3, July 5-11 (holding week for now until dates are fully secured for Gettysburg Field Excursion), one date between October 19-23 for MOHHC Celebration of Valor, and one PD workshop in November (Date TBD). *Teacher Fellowship Awards dinner date (TBD)
- Crafting one lesson and one Performance Task
- Participating in regular communication with Content Leads, Program Facilitators, and the MOHHC Director of Education throughout the year
- Survey completion
