The Month 3 Average Daily Attendance (ADA) and the Month 3 Personnel Report are two important pieces in the calculation of the FY2019-2020 Mississippi Adequate Education Program (MAEP) cost estimate. The deadlines for these reports are:
Personnel Report data – no later than noon on Friday, December 7, 2018
Student data – no later than Monday, December 10, 2018
The Mississippi Department of Education (MDE) has a statutory deadline of January 2, 2019 to report the FY2020 MAEP final cost to the Governor and the Legislative Budget Committee. Prior to this submission, the State Board of Education (SBE) is required to approve the adjusted cost for MAEP at their regularly scheduled meeting on Thursday, December 20. Due to this timeline, it is crucial that all school districts comply with the deadlines in order for MAEP to be calculated and approved prior to the start of the upcoming legislative session.
It is important that the information submitted is accurate as it directly impacts the amount of funding that will be requested for your district. Thank you in advance for making the submission of your data a top priority and stressing the importance of this process to all involved staff. Please know that MDE staff will closely monitor the submission of this information to ensure that obligations prescribed in law are met. Periodic updates will be provided to district staff on the status of the district’s submission. Also be reminded that MS Code Section 37-151-95, in conjunction with State Board Policy, Chapter 48, Rule 48.4, authorizes the State Superintendent of Education to withhold a district’s MAEP funds for failure to timely report student, fiscal and personnel data necessary to meet state and/or federal requirements.
