Good morning Superintendents, Principals, and Accountability Directors,
As we near the beginning of the accountability data review and calculation process, the MDE would like to remind districts of the upcoming review process and provide tentative dates for data releases. Also, please refer to the most current version of the Mississippi Statewide Accountability System Business Rules as you prepare to review accountability data. This version will reflect recent changes, most pertinently, changes to the English Learner component, Acceleration component, and performance classifications for high schools with unconventional grade configurations.
As previously communicated, changes to data regarding student demographics, enrollment/withdrawal, and completion records, after MSIS deadlines have past will no longer be allowed; however, the MDE is committed to assisting districts in the verification and utilization of accountability data in improving student performance.
On or about July 8, 2019, the MDE will post FAY and Demographic data in SharePoint to assist districts that chose to independently calculate accountability results prior to the release of the student-level accountability information file (SLAIF). Also, on or about July 8, 2019, Senior Snapshot will be posted, and the ACT verification screen will be available in MSIS. Districts will then be expected to verify and/or update ACT scores in MSIS and update Senior Snapshot participation data. Further communication will be sent when these files are posted.
On or about August 19, 2019, preliminary accountability results will be posted in SharePoint. School and district result files will be posted as well as the SLAIF at the district aggregate. Districts will then be asked to review and verify this data based on the information previously submitted to the MDE in MSIS. Any concerns about data accuracy should be reported to the MDE immediately so that staff can investigate the concern. The MDE will also be available to assist with any questions regarding the data files. Again, further communication will be sent when the files are posted.
In order to facilitate a September release of accountability results, the MDE will provide districts 10 working days to review preliminary results and submit any required formal requests for internal review. Deadlines will be communicated when preliminary results are posted to SharePoint.
Thank you for your assistance and cooperation during this upcoming review period. Please contact me with any questions or concerns, and I will be glad to assist.
C. Alan Burrow, Executive Director
