The Center for Mathematics and Science Education is hosting a series of hands-on workshops focused around the new science standards. Our next session will be held October 13, and is focused on grades 9-12 Biology and Life Sciences.
Knuckle Down on the New Standards: MS College- and Career-Readiness Standards for Science Grades 9-12
Join other high school teachers from across the state of Mississippi as we use active learning to explore ways to incorporate the core elements of Mississippi’s new science standards. Participants will reflect on best practices in biology and life sciences in the classroom; discern literacy in science from scientific literacy, yet see how they intertwine; and reflect with others on the best practices in chemistry, physical science, and physics classrooms. Participants will come away with an understanding of how to equip their students to be critical consumers of information and to be successful in science.
