Public Comments: Districts and Schools of Innovation, Process Standard 14.1, and Accountability System Business Rules

Greetings Superintendents:

 On June 13, 2019, the State Board of Education (SBE) granted approval to begin the Administrative Procedures Act (APA) process on several items, outlined below.

 The SBE granted approval to begin the APA process to establish State Board Policy Rule 28.7, related to Districts of Innovation and Schools of Innovation. Please submit written comments to Tina Sellers, 359 N. West Street, Post Office Box 771, Jackson, MS 39205-0771. You may also submit comments in writing by e-mail (tsellers@mdek12.org). All public comments must be received in the Office of Secondary Education no later than 5:00 p.m. on July 8, 2019.  APA Comments will be presented to the SBE on July 18, 2019.

 The SBE granted approval to begin the APA process to revise Process Standard 14.1 of the Mississippi Public School Accountability Standards, 2019. The proposed revisions provide clarity to ensure that districts offer students the diploma endorsements outlined in Process Standards 14.1.8, 14.1.9 and 14.1.10 that were adopted by the SBE on September 14, 2017.  Please submit written comments to Dr. Jo Ann Malone, Office of Accreditation, 359 N. West Street, Post Office Box 771, Jackson, MS 39205-0771. You may also submit comments in writing by email (accreditation@mdek12.org). All public comments must be received in the Office of Accreditation no later than 5:00 p.m. on July 8, 2019.  APA Comments will be presented to the SBE on July 18, 2019.

 The SBE granted approval to begin the APA process to revise the business rules of the Mississippi Statewide Accountability System. The proposed revisions will include the Mississippi School for the Blind and the Mississippi School for the Deaf, Early College High Schools, and University-Based Schools and to provide for the reporting of available performance measures for these schools as well as Child Development Centers. You may also submit comments in writing by email (accreditation@mdek12.org). All public comments must be received in the Office of District and School Performance no later than 5:00 p.m. on July 8, 2019.  APA Comments will be presented to the SBE on July 18, 2019.
