Teachers Conservation Workshops are hands-on conservation workshops with an emphasis on forests and other natural resources. Participants learn by demonstration and practical exercises how conservation practices can be integrated into the classroom.
Instructors include professionals from many of Mississippi’s forestry-related agencies, organizations and companies. Participants will be certified to use teaching materials of the nationally acclaimed environmental education curriculum, Project Learning Tree.
This is a highly active workshop, and some activities will require participants to be outside in the heat. Come prepared for nature walks, mill tours and other outdoor activities. In addition to the scheduled activities, participants enjoy networking.
There are three workshops across the state:
- South Workshop – Ellisville – June 9-14 – $125
- North Workshop – Booneville – June 23-28 – $125
- Metro Workshop – Jackson – July 9-11 – $60
The South and North Workshops are each approved for 5 CEUs and the Metro Workshop is approved for 2 CEUs. Lodging will be provided in the dorms for South and North Workshops.
